Advantages and Disadvantages of Studying in an International School

Since I was in Pre-K, I’ve studied in the same school, an international school. What I enjoy the most about it is that you can meet people from all around the world, learn their cultures, and see new students arrive. What I dislike about an international school is that people come and go, and never come back. I’ve lost many friends, but at the same time make new ones. My best friend since fourth grade left last year, and it was the first time I had actually felt the real meaning of losing a friend. I guess they feel the same way when they move, sometimes I think the people that stay are the ones that suffer, but actually I think that it’s harder for the people that move, since they have to say goodbye to all their friends and make a whole new bunch in their new school. Maybe that’s why proms are so sad, since everybody goes to a different collage, where everything is harder, and you might just need a trustful friend.
Sometimes, losing friends isn’t that bad, because you can see them again in some other opportunity, in vacations, parties or some other time. But what I’ve learned through the past years in an international school, is that people come and go just like the cycle of life, and someday everybody will meet again.

"The Middle" T.V Show

On October 19, 2010 was the first time I had ever seen “The Middle” a recent T.V show in, Warner Brothers. The main characters of the show are the Heck’s, a not very common family, they are: Frankie Heck (mom), Mike Heck (dad), Axl Heck (older son), Sue Sue Heck (daughter), and Brick Heck (youngest son).  What happened in last night’s T.V show was, that Christmas was getting closer and Frankie didn’t have time to put the tree, build the city, make a snow man, buy the gifts, and make the food because she wanted to try out and practice for a solo in her choir, since she’s been wanting it for 15 years. So Mike offers to do everything in the Christmas list, and mom gets angry because she also wanted to participate. In conclusion the episode had common family problems but resolved differently.
What I found funny about the show was that Frankie at the beginning of the episode was writing on the family’s blog, and talking about her children’s and husbands problems and secrets, what I found funny was that I’m writing a blog about it! I have to say that I enjoyed this comedy because it made me laugh a lot and I’m willing to keep on watching it and recommend it to other people.

What's Frustrating about High School?

Try this:
-          - Wake up at 6:30
-          - Get to school at 7:40
-          - Learn boring stuff
-          - Have homework, projects, essays, more work
-          - Lunch
-          - School dismissal: 3:30
-          - Get out of school at 5:00
-          - Get stuck in traffic for 1:30
-          - Get home at 6:30
-          - Do homework, projects, more work…
-          - Eat dinner
-          - Go to sleep at 11:00

The list above represents what I have to do every school day. I can’t blame nor school or high school, but… frustration. When I was in Elementary, I couldn’t wait to go to High School, and try projects, and brown shirts, and freedom… But now I can see what it’s really like. In high school we make our own choices, we have more freedom, it’s a cool habitat, and fun… but when it comes to work, there comes the frustrating part! Luckily it will only be for 3 ½ more years, guess I can live with it.

"Los Roques"

In the summer of 2010 my family and I went to “Los Roques” a small island in Venezuela that took me half an hour to get there from Caracas. Not only did I go with my family, but met there with some friends! June 12, 2010 was the first time visiting the most beautiful beach that I have ever seen in my life with crystal clear water, coral sand, and perfect weather.
The day we arrived, we met with our friends and got on a boat the led us towards another beach, where we got amazingly tanned. Later that day we climbed up a mountain where an old and small castle was located, and took advantage of some good pictures. The following and last day we ate breakfast, met once again with our friends and a smaller boat took us to another beach where we got to see Sea Turtles, and Sea Stars.
When we arrived home, with the reddest tan I have ever had, I was blown away to see one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and with the pride of being located in my own country.

"The Last Song" written by: Nicholas Sparks

A novel that I enjoyed a lot and recently finished is called “The Last Song” written by: Nicholas Sparks. This book is about an 18 year old girl, called Ronnie, and she lived in New York with her younger brother Jonah and her mom, since her parents were divorced. Their dad lived in Wilmington, North Carolina and for the summer their mom decided, that it would be good if Ronnie and Jonah spent time with him. Ronnie hated her father ever since they got divorced, because he cheated on her mom. Jonah in the other hand was thrilled for spending the summer with him. Ronnie’s father (Steve) used to be a piano teacher in Julliard University and Ronnie had a special talent in piano since she was 3 years old, but left it when her father moved.
Near Steve’s house, a church burnt down months ago, and was getting fixed and Steve was making a window which Jonah helped with. Instead Ronnie was taking care of some sea turtles eggs that were in her dad’s backyard. The summer time Ronnie and her father shared, made them open up and forgive their mistakes and become really trustful good friends. Ronnie met a boy her age called Will and both spent the whole summer together and fell in love with each other.  The day the sea turtle eggs hatched, Steve was taken to the hospital, and realized he had lung cancer and was spreading around his body and was too late to remove. When summer was over, Ronnie decided to stay with her father until the end, and forgive him once again for his acts, and catch up for all the years they missed together. The time Ronnie spent in the hospital with him was for him to open her eyes into the piano once again and accept the Julliard Scholarship she had received.
I enjoyed immensely this novel because it had a lot of details, and I could picture what was happening easily. The main message of the story was the relationship Ronnie shared with her father because both of them had to learn how to forgive and to leave the pain in the past. Steve opened many times Ronnie’s eyes to the future ahead of her, which helped her with collage and her love towards Will. This novel was made into a movie not long after the book was published and I have to say that the book was way better because it had more of a complete story and many things weren’t mentioned in the movie, besides of the different endings. I would greatly recommend this book to, mainly teenage girls, or women that like romantic, tragic, and sad but leaving a teaching message that will remain inside of you, since that’s the way it was for me.
